The better fitted RD dress

Picture
It is still in progress but it is almost there!
Here is a pic from my final fitting.
I will likely try to sell this dress after the wedding too if anyone is interested in it.

Hair and Makeup Trial

I wanted a low pined half up half down type look with lots of curls. We put in hair extensions but we couldn't get as much curl as I wanted so come the day of we are going to have a lot more curls. But I do love the makeup. I think we will tone down the blush a bit and de-shine me for the day but I think the makeu was almost perfect.

My "Somethings"

I have finally nailed down my something old, new, borrowed, and blue.

The "new" could really be anything from my dress, to my shoes, to my earrings so that one was taken care of early.

The "blue" is a embroidered patch that my mom made (featured on my DIY page). My seamstress is going to sew it into the bottom hem of the dress so I can lift it up for a cute pic.

And my "old" and "borrowed" is a little pin I am borrowing from my dad. He was awarded it back in his 7th grade of school and it dates back to 1965. I am going to pin it somewhere on my dress and likely have my seamstress add some extra stitches there too to make sure it doesn't fall off.

Fourth Dress Fitting

I would say the normal person does not need 4 dress fittings but since I started so early we stretched everything out. I also had a much better idea of what I want to do with my hair so this is pretty close to the look I think I will have on my wedding day!

Third Dress Fitting

Third dress fitting done! Not a ton has changed since the second one although she keeps tweeking the bustle. But I did get to try it on with my veil and my hair comb. Here are some pics:

It still needs to be fitted around my waist and bust and hemed a bit but here is what it looks like so far!

Shower Dress

Picture
I wanted a cute short white dress for me RD or showers. I found this one at White House Black Market and it was exactly what I was looking for! Yea!

I also made DIY jewelry for it that you can see under my DIY page.

Nails - Axxium by OPI

I have pretty funny looking fingers (my friends affectionately call them tree frog hands) so I really wasnt sure what to do with my nails. Then I heard about this new technique for nails on my club board called Axxium by OPI. They paint this gel stuff directly on your nails and then it soaks right off. It lasts for over 2 weeks and I love it! It really does come off without ruining your nails and is super durable when on. I am def doing this for the wedding.

Here are pics when they had been on for over 2 weeks...you can see the nail growth but I dont think it is that bad.

Second Dress Fitting!!

I am way ahead of schedule as it is only April and my wedding is in Oct but my dress almost fits perfectly!

The only things left to do is sew the hem in place, fix the sash a bit more in the back, and poof up the crinoline a little in the front so it doest go in in the front, and pull it in around my chest just a little so it doest gap at all up top.

Here are pics!
Picture
We were going to do bra cups but I dont think I need them anymore since she has taken it in at the top...the dress actually holds me up by itself
Picture
From the back...you can see the sash still needs a little bit of work

Sitting down - we are having a Catholic mass so will likely have to sit during that

Shoes!

Picture
I bought these purple shoes for $16 from Target and I LOVE them! But they needed something else so I added brooches! I got the brooches from another knottie for $10 and just pined them on - total cost = $26!

The pic on the right is the manufacture picture and is pretty representative of the actual color. My pics below show the shoes with the brooches but the pics turned out pretty dark on my camera.

First Dress Fitting!!!

I had my first dress fitting and I LOVE my seamstress! If any of you are in MN I would highly recommend Louise - along with the rest of the girls from the Twin Cities board :).

Here is a list of what she is doing on my dress:
Putting bra cups in
Fit it around my bust
Fix the sash in the back (my dress was a sample so the sash needs some work)
Take it in a very little bit at my waist so it doesn't slide around
Hem it because it is VERY long
Add a bustle
Adjust the crinoline under the dress so it lays better
....all of this for $175 plus I am going to pay cash to get the %10 off so it will be even less!

She gave me two bustle options - I think I am leaning towards #1.

I am also DIY my veil and brought in the tulle that I had tea dyed - there are a couple pics of us holding it up to see how it all looks together.

With normal bra cups - you cant even tell the difference from the push up ones right!? But the push up ones felt more supportive so I am likely going with those

Jacket Inspiration

Picture
I would love to have a little jacket to wear when I get cold (I seem to always be cold). Here is inspiration for one I like - may need to make it look different to match my dress. My mom is an awesome sewer so there is a good chance she would help make this for me.

THE DRESS!!!!

This is what the Final Round of dress shopping produced (you can see the previous rounds below).
I am soooooo excited!!! I LOVE it!!!!

You can see the side and part of the back view from the reflection in the mirror. Go mom with your great photography skills! (I also blacked out another bride who was in the mirror :)

The back - it obviously does not fit but you can see the beading at the base and kind of how the sash will come around back
